Time Lords, Jedi & Vikings, Oh My!

It seems that the Viking funeral pyre is en vogue in the Citadel of Gallifrey and in the halls of the Jedi Temple in a Galaxy far, far away.

I can’t blame them, when I go to the great geek convention in the sky, that’s the way I want to go too. Stick me on a boat and set me ablaze!

HISTORY; What were you told?

HISTORY; What were you told? : For most Scots growing up, history lessons at school consisted of how, Great....Britain was and how our history started with the Norman conquest of england in 1066. If you attended english classes you were treated to the dross of an english playwright in his attempt to give the Stewart’s a heritage lost in the mists of time, Banquo, MacBeth the “tyrant” and all that. If you were lucky and had teachers who cared they might have passed on some of the facts to you. 1603, Scotland’s ruling class deserted her and Scotland started the slippery slope to ruin. `A century of turmoil, religous divisions, cultural divides, continued anglicisation and even a period of english occupation in a so called Commenwealth we reached 1707 and an incorporating Union.   James Stewart VI of Scotland At the heart of all this was a Stewart monarchy who turned its back on the very Nation that spawned it to finally destroy it as the smoke of ruin lifted from Drumossie Moor. ...

Barrowman Reiterates Return Wish

Barrowman Reiterates Return Wish : Who would you like to see appear in Doctor Who ’s fiftieth birthday bash in 2013? Along the way, the Doctor has met some pretty interesting characters that could come back to either help or hinder him in his travels across the Universe. One such character is Captain Jack Harkness, who is surely the twenty first century equivalent of the Brigadier, would be a welcome guest star to help out the Eleventh Doctor when the time comes. Doctor Who fans last saw the good Captain in The End of Time, Part Two , when the Tenth Doctor set him up with Midshipman Frame as a goodbye present. Since then both the Doctor and the Captain have had more than enough fish to fry saving Earth and the Universe. But as the time draws nearer and the Doctor is due to celebrate one of his biggest birthday’s ever, what can we expect? When the series was running during its 10th and 20th anniversaries we were treated to some very special stories. On its 30th and 40th we we...

Badass Man of Steel & Sexy Selina

Now I love my movies, and I especially enjoy superhero movies, so it’s been a great couple of days with  Warner Bros. releasing promotional shots from two of my most anticipated movies of the next couple of years, Superman: Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises. The first picture is of Henry Cavill as Superman from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. I love Superman because I like the messianic aspects of the character, but I do find him somewhat lacking in the badass department. Kal-El of Krypton may be virtually indestructible but sadly he has always been something of a wimp; too much of a nice guy. So imagine my surprise when the studio releases a photo of our new Supes, not only looking ultra cool in his new threads, but looking like he wants to kick your ass. He’s going to kick your ass and he’s going to enjoy it! Two things I really like about the new suit; I may be wrong as it’s hard to see in this picture, but it looks like they have finally got rid of the super pants, always ...
